Before 2001, NiKem Research constituted the core nucleus of operations for SmithKline Beecham Discovery, Milan. In addition to the latest technologies and equipment needed for modern medicinal chemistry, our staff and management had all the extensive training and experience that can be gained by growing in a global pharmaceutical environment. Having worked together for two decades had built a significant atmosphere of teamwork, which is the key ingredient needed to achieve success in drug discovery.

The last 6 years has been a period of controlled growth
We have been busy investing into facility expansion, adding new value-added services, and dedicating a percentage of our internal resources to internal R&D.
Today, NiKem has more than tripled in staff, has increased their research space and technology platform with the addition of an automation laboratory and more wetlabs, and offers a complete drug discovery service that can take your target all the way into pre-clinic. In fact, we have been very successful in this period and now have a portfolio of very satisfied clients.
As further testament to our capabilities, our internal drug discovery efforts are now almost ready for the clinic and we have decided to spin out our R&D portfolio under a new and separately controlled company, called Brane Discovery. This decision was based on making sure the necessary resources to bring the projects ahead can be acquired and it alleviates NiKem from all forms of “conflict of interest” which could concern potential clients.
